You overtook me.

You overtook me,

Like a shadow going places before me,

I used to be so whole,

But you overtook my soul,

I was beautiful, joyful, messier, kinder,

I saw the sky filled with rainbows, clouds,

I used to enjoy the moments of happiness,

Sober with the bravery of the drunk,

Felt lucky with half the things I had now,

Felt happier by just playing in the sand building castles,

Felt cheerful by having more greeting cards, more friends, more time,

Felt satisfied by just running around without possessing anything,

But you overtook me,

you changed from moments of happiness to moments of doubts,

Turning the colourful sky into grey,

Pushing me,

Like a tiny bird falling from a sheltered nest,

Taking away the stars from me, one by one,

In the name of time,

In the name of fear,

In the name of possessions,

In the name of love,

Leaving me,

In an illusional world with ,

more things, more money, more hatred but less happiness,

While I scream into the wild,

Hating you for,

Turning me from,

extraordinary to ordinary,

Happy to numb,

Carefree to confused,

You overtook me, maturity.

You are gone too soon, innocence.
